Ronald in Wonderland

..Cause do lI look like Alice ? haha. No, June 16th/17th in Zurich during Christopher Street Day (Gay Pride): WONDERLAND ! A massive event with Afterparty an a selection of European DJ’s, including your DJRW. 2 Gigs that weekend, looking forward to it :). Before that, I’ll be sharing the decks with DJ Ajaxx (Zurich) at the JUNGLE Party in Lausanne (right after LADZ the night before in Amsterdam).
Also closer to home, I’ll be busy. 2 Fridays a month I’m doing PURE at Club Fuxxx. Happy to notice that the progressive/techno minded gays know to find their way to this spot.
Lots to do and more in perspective. LAB at Scream Club in Paris is just behind me. It was so amazing, the amount of energy there. A paradise to work in :). They say I’ll come back there .. ;-).
Before you know it, it’ll be Amsterdam Gay Pride. Time runs fast. Better grab you party before you missed it ! Have a beautiful summer. xx Ronald (DJRW)

The traditional quiet period of the year (first 2.5 months) is over ! I write this blog at the airline lounge at Tokyo Narita Airport, the end of an impressive holiday (Kyoto, Tokyo Disney and Tokyo city).
Expensive and challenging due to language gap, but the country offers so much to see & do, and the people are most friendly.
Back to work :-|. My resident gigs at Club Fuxxx will be focussed from the month of april on 2 fridays/month on which I’ll develop the new night “PURE”. PURE will be all about the essence of music and particulary to (of course in my case) techno, tech-house. As little as possible compromises to mainstream, it’ll be all about the bass, the drums, and some appropriate synths. Minimal ? Sometimes yes, non-commercial ? I don’t think so, there are numerous people who love this music. For sure it’s not about cheap full vocal hitparade tracks. You’ll be warned ! ;-), but then.. you knew me already. Further more, a rubberparty at Fuxxx and a sportswearparty (LADZ) at Club Church, for which I’m known to be a dedicated DJ :-P. In April, it’s time for Rapido festival at Westerunion (28th) and Rapido classic (29th). In may I’ll be doing my debut at LAB (12th), the famous party by Ben Manson at Scream (Paris). Also find me in Lausanne (27th) at the Jungle Party.

Winterseason

Wherever you play inside the club/at a party (regardless what play ;-) it’s warm or even hot. So don’t fear the upcoming winter cold – that is if you’re also living on the northern hemisphere like me – and look forward to enjoy the parties.
Soon, it will be already time to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of PIDI RADIO ! From the start, I contributed my weekly dance mixes on friday (21h-23h cet), either set-recordings or an exclusive Pidi month mix, and I intend to go on with them. Friendly people, the whole day good music for all tastes, and working with many of the A’dam party jocks.
LADZ autumn edition is this week (nov 26th). Last edition of this year but 2012 will have again 6 parties. Still massively popular. Looking forward to spin of course at Rapido New Years Eve (jan 1st), with guest dj Peter Rauhofer.
CLUB FUXXX is becoming more and more developed and gets its own identity. Will never be the same as the Cockring Club, but will for sure embrace some of the old scene, added with a new one. New nights with differents styles of music and new enthusiast promotors. Come and see (and hear of course).

Hot autumn

As it is today officially autumn (where was actually our summer in NW Europe this year ? brrr), I’m looking forward to a busy DJ period. Besides my weekly contribution to www.pidiradio.nl on fridays (21-23h cet), I’ll do a LADZ XL this saturday. Regularly, it’s being held at Club Church, but for once we do it at Rozenstraat 14, best known as the COC Amsterdam. A bigger dancefloor, bigger cruising area and 3 DJ’s. That’s Ryan-EG, DJRW, and from London: Jack Chang ! Let’s make it sweaty, seductive and… well as hot as you like it ;-).
From october on, I’ll be doing the 1st saturday of the month at Club FUXXX. It’ll be all about gear – something that’s quite common where I play :P. More monthly gigs at FUXXX to follow – see the agenda.
Oct 15th, you can hear me in Antwerp in The Boots Club (24h-03h) at their GEAR night.
End of october is crowded with (inter)national fetish crowds to attend the succesfull combination Get Ruff (a.k.a. Leather Pride Amsterdam) and RAPIDO. Will do a marathon of 4 bookings in 1 weekend. Black Body’s Rubberparty at Cuckoo’s Nest on friday, RUFF Mainparty at Lexxion on saturday, RUFF Afterparty at FUXXX on sundaymorning and finally RAPIDO at PARADISO on sunday afternoon-evening.

PRIDE

It’s early august and that means the annual Amsterdam Gay Pride !
Parties all weekend long and DJRW is part of it ;-).
Doing a private boatparty on saturday (14h-20h) on the Amstel River.
Sundaymorning an afterparty at Club Fuxxx. That will be my debut under the new name & management. As I posted before, the Fuxxx is where the old Cockring Club used to be.
Will do 2 dates in august and 2 in september there. Perspective on more in the following months – see the list with upcoming gigs.
After the afterparty, and just with a few hours of rest, I’ll be opening the upstairs floor of Rapido (15h-20h).
This is the traditional most busy edition of Rapido throug out the year. Sold out alrerady for months.
Will spin the room together with Jack Chang and I will party onwards on Pagano’s darkside at Rapido After :).
The sets of Fuxxx After & Rapido will be recorded and shared with you a.s.a.p.

New residency on a well-known spot

It’s about 1 year ago that I did my last set at Amsterdam’s notorious Cockring Club. It closed its door in july 2010 after being a homebase for > 25 years for the ‘butch’ and kinky partyscene, the circuit boys and all others who like the combination of progressive/underground music and cruising.
This year, april 2011, the venue has been opened with a new name, a new owner, new staff and quite some changes in the interior. More is about to follow. The owner, ROB Leather, also owner of the opposite situated Argos Bar, has plans for developing the upstairs floors. A larger cruising area (think of The Boots, Antwerp and Club 80, Melbourne) is in perspective. The Argos Bar also needs a renovation and has a more urgent status so we need to be patient, but.. it looks promising. The new name: Club Fuxxx .
After an orientative period of a few months in which several music styles and theme nights were tried out, more structure is slowly being given to the club and the programming.

I feel honored and very happy that I have been asked to be part of the resident DJ team to give Club Fuxxx its ‘sound’ ! From august 2011, I’ll be spinning my tribal, techno, and techno sounds, always smoothened up with some juicy main stream tunes, as you know them from my RAPIDO, LADZ, GET RUFF and former Cockring sets.
No fixed night (yet) and exact dates to be advised as soon as possible, but the first date is set: Amsterdam Gay Pride Fuxx Afterparty on sundaymorning, august 7th (05am-10am).

Till august, you can find me in Zurich at Revolution RUFF, Xces Club on july 9th, and at LADZ, Church Club, july 30th. Weekly on fridays (21h-23h cet) on PIDI RADIO.

It’s all about exposure, publicity, attention :-). A DJ can’t and doesn’t want to do without.
So I’m happy and enthusiast to announce working with
PIDI RADIO !
From dec 5th, this brand new (gay) internet radio station will launch its 24-7-365 broadcasting with music in many styles and moods, but for sure including DANCE.
I’ll have the pleasure to fill up a weekly friday block from 21.00h-23.00h. A good way to get fresh for the weekend. PIDI RADIO will broadcast my mixes. Both set recording of recent gigs as also mixes that I will make exlusively for this station.
I will also share frequently the new releases, fresh from the store. Will give you a view in my wallet :).
PIDI RADIO aims to keep that exciting party feeling inside of you. You can listen to the beats & bass. At home, at work, on your way, wherever you have an internet connection.

Sad update: No Cockring Club

After almost 4 years of residency at the the > 25 year existing Cockring Club, Amsterdam, there is a (temporarily) end to it.
The club has been closed by order of the mayor and local administration. Illegal substances were found, but only in small amount.
The management of the club is exploring all legal means to fight the sanction and to be granted to re-open.
In the mean time, we’ll miss my weekly sets. Pity, because I loved to check the latest tracks and try my mixes with my loyal audience.

There are still the other gigs, as mentioned in the “Upcoming list”, and they’re not least, such as RAPIDO.
